Birdhouse Garden

Good Morning!

A little change of pace for me today.  This card showcases an oldie but a goodie Tutti Designs die, Birdhouse Garden, which was released back in the October Release of 2016.

I love this die, because it reminds me of putting my own gardens to bed for the upcoming season.  I adore Fall and all it brings, even if my pretty blooms go dormant for a while!

Once again I cut this beautiful Birdhouse Garden die from White card stock.  I colored it using Copic Markers.  I also added some Pink and White card stock to the back of the birdhouses and the pretty yellow flowers.  This technique gives a bit more oomph to your die cut.  Then I added Versa Mark ink to the entire die cut, coating in clear Embossing Powder and heating.  This always adds such a nice shine to what you are creating AND it makes your die cut look like a pretty embellishment.  If you do this with many layers it becomes an absolute gorgeous chipboard like piece......which as you all know, adds depth and dimension.

As I only cut one layer, this is still a nice flat card for easy (no extra postage) mailing.
Gotta love that!

  1. Those birdhouses really pop against the black background. I've started cutting all our flowers back as well. Saying good-bye to summer is hard but the colors of fall can't be beat! Enjoy what's left of the season my friend!

  3. I bought this die after seeing you use it. I did the same as you and used clear embossing powder to make the houses shine. The die is so detailed that you are right, it can be a one layer and still look like a there is a lot going on. I love the fall look to this one, never thought of that.

  4. I love the colors of your birdhouses! This card is awesome! And, yes, it's THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!! Where does the time go? A few years ago hubby made me some birdhouses to position up in our picnic area ... the birds have occupied them every spring ... so nice to see! Your card reminds me, those houses need a new paint job ... adding it to my fall clean up list!! lol Have a great day!

  8. This is so sweet!! I love how you colored the birdhouses and your very colorful flowers. It certainly doesn't look like it would be flat for mailing.

  9. All this time and I never thought to color die cuts. I'm so happy I found this in my email box! Lovely colors! What a sweet scene (and love the clear embossing or UTEE to create embellies)!

I'm really looking forward to seeing your autumnal/pumpkin makes this year, not celebrated here in the U.K.....perhaps I should change that! ;-) xx

  11. So pretty, love how you have backed the flowers to give that extra touch of color, looks great on the black background, really allows the colors to pop!
Yes it is getting that time when I need to start cleaning up the flower beds, so sad, but once all the leaves start turning that brings another whole beauty to everything :)
