Window Screens & City Scenes

Good Morning!  Well were lucky to have 6 inches of additional snow yesterday morning.  Hmmmm, what's wrong with that sentence?  I guess the lucky part was how light and fluffy and sparkly it all was.  Like glitter sparkly!  lol

I made a card for the latest challenge at Papertrey Ink, #150 Window Screen Cards.  A really fun and made me think kind of challenge.  Instead of using another die cut as the 'screen' I chose vellum so at least you could still (kind of) see the scene through the window.  It's a fun technique and even if you don't try it, you really should watch the video as Melissa Phillips creates the most beautiful card!

And here is mine:

I used the City Scene stamp and die sets available from Papertrey Ink as well as the Tag-Its #2 stamp set for the sentiment.  I will admit I do have to practice a bit more in the 2 step stamping, but all in all I do like how the buildings came out.  I have looked at their gallery and the DT has made some beautiful cards using these sets.

The window and frame were made by using the Spellbinders Lacy Squares die, I just cut out the center portion to create the window.  Popped that up on 3D foam squares and placed my buildings behind it.  Added the tree line and layered that with designer paper, a little Bakers Twine and some lace complete my window scene.

A really FUN technique you should give it a try, it will work with so many different stamp sets for any type of occasion!

Thanks so much for stopping by, later this morning I will be back on the road!  See you in a few!

Enjoy~~

What WOOD You Create?

Good Monday Morning!  It's downright balmy here with temps fast approaching 40 degrees.  Of course this will be the warmest day this week, I think the temps will drop by half for the rest of the week.  So grab your flip flops and lets look at a card!

I made one more Valentine card for the Mod Squad Blog Challenge, What WOOD You Create, using the great Sketch from My Favorite Things.

I used Designer Papers from My Mind's Eye, Kiss And Tell, as well as some Pure Luxury Card Stock from Gina K Designs.  My wood accents are little elongated hearts (wish they were a bit bigger) but they were in my stash.  Spellbinder Dies, Classic and Heart Circles for the layered sentiment, which is from the Flourishes stamp set, Roses Are Red, stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink from Stampin' Up!  3 layered Prima Flowers, Jute and Baker's Twine wrapped around each heart.

I am hoping to hand deliver this one, I think Postage Rates go up (again!) today here in the US.

Enjoy your week, and enjoy the warmer temps if you are experiencing them!

Thanks for popping in!

Contrast, Clean And Simple

Howdy!  Seems like it's been forever!  But I am back with a card for the CASology Challenge #79 Contrast.

My card uses and image from the Flourishes, Hydrangea set.  I believe this set is soon to be retired and unavailable right now.  BUT a generous Flourishes Design Team Member, Heather Jensen, was overly kind and sent me her set.  I have always said, crafters, card makers in particular, are so kind.  I hope I can pay it forward......thank you Heather.  And if any of you would like to see how talented she is, please stop by her Beautiful Blog; Simply Handmade By Heather, be prepared to be WOW'ed!

I used one of the smaller sized bouquets of Hydrangeas for this card.  Colored with Copic markers and a touch of a yellow Sakura glitter pen for the centers.  The white background uses the Swiss Dots embossing folder and the 2 dies are Spellbinders, Ornate Squares.  (I found them yesterday at AC Moore, they have a bunch of them at a $10 special purchase--good to know!) I colored one flower different than the others and popped it up a bit for the contrast.

Living here on Cape Cod we are surrounded by such beautiful Hydrangeas.  I have 4 large ones that make such a fantastic 'hedge'  Ahhhh, simple pleasures!

*** On a personal note ***  I was off Cape for most of last week.  My Mom has been having a few medical issues, but I am happy to say, that she is doing so much better than we first thought, phew!  But, she still needs her kids and family around to pitch in and help out, so I will be going back and forth for a few weeks.  I apologize to all of my Blogging Friends that I have not been able to pop on over to their Blogs.  It's just been crazy busy.   I do love seeing what you have created and being inspired every time I do.  Please don't think I don't love you....I do!  ;)

Thanks for stopping by, I do appreciate it, as well as YOU!

Enjoy~~

All That Glitter Is......

.....Pretty!  And I think that the Martha Stewart glitter is the most glittery!  It really sparkles and shines like none other that I have used!

Today's card (which was a quickie--getting out of Dodge before the Blizzard hits!) is for the Capture The Moment Challenge, Glitter Embellishments and for the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge, Emboss It.

I used the Lovely Layers dies, available from Papertrey Ink to create my glittery flower.   This is craaaaaazy sparkly in real life.  I also used a base of glitter paper for the background, which has been embossed with a honey comb folder.  The flower is made with turquoise, aquamarine, charoite, and kunzite (which makes me want to say Bless You!) colored glitters.  Sparkle, sparkle, sparkle!  Added 3 turquoise textured rhinestones, and that fabulous sentiment from the Lovely Layers stamp set using a tag from Spellbinders Ribbon Banner Tags.

Despite the Blizzard fast approaching, I am still counting the days til Spring.......only 57 more!!!

A is for Antique

Today's card will be entered into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, A Is For....and for the MIUM Challenge over at Stamp TVKeep It CAS.

I made another masculine card, again not much to look at.

I used Spellbinders Lacy Squares die and the Masculine Tags stamp set available from Gina K Designs.   I also added 4 metal clasps to add a little bit of oomph, otherwise this would be totally naked.  Eek!

Plenty of time left in both challenges, give em' a whirl!

Blizzard watch happening for tomorrow.....sigh....oh winter be gone!  :)

Enjoy~~

Button.....Button.....

Who's got the button?  I do!  Several as a matter of fact!  This card was inspired by good old Pinterest!

This card actually reminds me of a dress my daughter wanted to buy in first grade.  It was all primary colors and not to my liking, so I wouldn't buy it for her.  And don't you know the first day of first grade some other little girl on the bus was wearing it???  I like to think I saved her from that embarrassment of wearing the same outfit.....she still doesn't see it that way.....hahaha

This card is for the Flourishes #254, Button Up Challenge and the Curtain Call Jan 15, Love Letter Challenge.

The stamp set is Just My Type, from Flourishes. All of the buttons and Baker's Twine were in my stash, lucky!   A little Stickles on the heart and lots of pop dots to adhere the button panel to the card base.  You know this will cost me $2.07 to mail now!  :)

Thanks for stopping by!  (and Lori if you're reading this, I am sorry about the dress!) xoxo

Enjoy~~

Mountain View

Good Saturday Morning!  Lots to do today, but NO chores!  Imagine that!  I 'tried' to make another masculine card, and this time it actually worked.....I think!  Has more razzle dazzle than the last one, that's for sure!  So without further ado, here it is:

The stamp sets are available from Flourishes, Mountain View and Just My Type.  (I used only a portion of one of the stamps for the sentiment).  As well as the Perfectly Pierced die.

Colored with Copic Markers and then doused in glitter and Stickles.  The mountain is covered in 'snow'.  The shine and sparkle in real life looks awesome!    Added some adhesive pearls, button and Baker's Twine.

This card will be entered in  Flourishes #254, Button Up and Mod Squad Snowy Challenges.

Hope you all have a happy Saturday!

Shine!

Now this was a FUN card to make and lovely to look at (so much better than yesterday's--phew!)

I found these fabulous 'bingo' cards at Michael's, they are by Die Cuts With A View, a 20 pack was only $3.99 (used a 40% off coupon).  They have different words at the top, shine, laugh, smile, family, learn, love, sassy, happy, all in different colors.  I think the 'shine' one is perfect for the challenge over at Stamp TV.  The Designer Papers are from My Mind's Eye, Love Me.    2 glossy purple heart brads, some Prima flowers, twine, liquid pearls, and pretty pink checked gingham ribbon.  I also made a pink paper clip ribbon embellishment, super easy, super cute!   Sentiment is from True Love and the textured stamp is from Petals And Wings, both available from Gina K Designs

This card will be entered into the Stamp TV MIUM Challenge, You're Turn To Shine and the Simon Says Monday Blog, Anything Goes Challenge.

Thanks so much for stopping by, hope to see you again real soon!

Time For A Masculine Card

.....aka Oh The Horror!   This is just a simple little card.  No flair, no excitement, no hidden gem, kind of boring......but here it is.

It's hard to tell here, but I did coat the face of the time piece with crystal accents, so there is a nice thick glossy sheen to it.  Okay that is my WOW factor.  lol  I used the Darice embossing folder, Steam Punk for the background on a lovely piece of Core'dinations Kraft Core Paper, which I also sanded down a bit, gives it a very masculine feel.  Spellbinder's Lacy Square and a tag from Tag Trio dies used.  A bit of ribbon, but really not much else going on on this creation.

This card will be entered into the Stamp TV, MIUM, You're Time To Shine! and the Simon Says Monday Challenge, Anything Goes.

Stamp sets are available from Gina K Designs, Time and Birthday Duo.

I promise to have something a little more exciting for you tomorrow!  ;)

You're So Sweet

It's that time of year again......Valentine's Day......well it's getting closer, time to pull out all of pretty pink designer papers and embellishments!

The Designer Papers for my card are by My Mind's Eye, Love Me, just perfect for a Valentine!  Image and sentiment are Sent With Love, available from Gina K Designs.  I used the sketch from
My Favorite Things, Sketch #158

I've got some sparkly pink glitter paper as a background and after coloring the little 'gumball' hearts with Copic Markers I added some diamond Stickles to add more sparkle and shine.  Pink rhinestones, Baker's Twine, and heart brads complete my embellishments.   Spellbinder's dies; Classic and Heart Circles were used to layer the image.

This card will be entered in the following challenges:

Stamp TV MIUM, It's Your Time To Shine!

Simon Says Stamp, Monday Blog, Anything Goes

Feeling Blue

Today's card is entered into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, Blues and the Stamp TV MIUM Challenge, Monochromatic

My Father In Law's birthday is actually Valentine's Day.  I may use this for both celebrations.  A very simple card to make.  I cut the heart out using my Cameo, I then ran it through my Corrugator hand tool to add the texture.  I find it makes the heart more manly!  lol  Added a large button threaded with Baker's Twine and topped with an enamel brad.  A little bit of ribbon, tag stamped with the sentiment from the True Love stamp set from Gina K Designs, and another enamel brad.  Done!  Super easy, super quick!

I like the idea of using NON traditional colors for Holiday cards.......you may remember some of my black and white Christmas cards.  ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Home Sweet Home

Take Two.

Another Happy New Home card for my daughter.  I will be entering this in the Mod Squad Challenge, A Few Of Cat's Favorite Things

I picked these accents from the list;

Ribbon
Layered Image
Buttons

I love the bright happy designer papers I chose, they are from My Mind's Eye, Quite Contrary, Jack & Jill.  The stamps are from the Windows Of The World set available from Flourishes.  The die, Perfectly Pierced, can also be found there.

The window image is colored with Copic markers and fussy cut out.  The 3 layered hearts were cut using my Cameo.  The ribbon is drawn through the home made 'tag' and knotted on one side to give a different look than usual.  Eyelets and buttons and one little rhinestone are added accents.  Love the palette of this card.

And I love who it is for!

Still time to pop over and enter into this Challenge......Gooooooooooo!

Enjoy~~

Let's Get In Shape.....

......if only it were THIS easy!  Today's Challenge finds me over at Flourishes, #253, make a shaped card (other than a square or rectangle).

I found a 'shape' in my Cameo Studio, it looks like a square peg in a round hole.  :)  A perfect shape for this lovely teacup image from the Grab A Cup stamp set available from Flourishes.

I colored the image with Copic markers and then cut it out using Spellbinder's dies, Classic and Lacy Circles, all layered on a white doily.  I also colored some seam binding ribbon with a pink Copic marker too, works like magic!  Added some ribbon flowers, adhesive pearls, a touch of sparkle to the lemon with a Sakura clear star pen and some pink Stickles to the stamped flowers to finish the look.  I love the vintage feel and flavor to this card.  This reminds me of my Nana Amy's Bone China teacups, how I treasure them!

Thanks for popping in......now go stamp something!  ;)

The NEW Mod Squad Blog

What a FUN new Challenge blog, The Mod Squad Challenge Blog.  Their very first Challenge is; A Few Of Cat's Favorite Things.  She has a whole long list of wonderful accents to choose from, a minimum of 3 are needed to participate.

For this card I have chosen the following items:

Distress Ink Edges
Ribbon--I used Lace
Pearl Stickers
Die Cuts--Silhouette Cameo

This card was inspired by Pinterest, and is for my daughter and her man, who have just bought their very first house.  First Challenge, First House......Perfect!

I cut 3 (free) svg files using my Cameo, super cute house images!  Added adhesive pearls, some fabulous lace and a lovely sentiment from the Home Is stamp set available from Gina K Designs.

I really love how this card turned out.  I am probably going to make them several happy new house cards, because we are sooooooooooooooo HAPPY for them!  They are now only 1.5 hours away.....getting closer!  ;)

Thanks for stopping by and go check out the new Blog in town.

Enjoy~~

Just A Little Bit Of This.......

Today's card is for the Challenge going on over at Capture The Moment, #147 Multi Layered Images From A Single Stamp.  At first I was like what?!?!  But just watch the video, they make it all so simple.  I chose the larger flower image from one of my new sets, Lovely Layers.  I think this image worked perfectly for this technique. I went with blues and yellows.   I stamped the flower image 4 times in each of the inks, Always Artichoke, Elegant Eggplant, More Mustard, and Night Of Navy, all from Stampin' Up!  I fussy cut the yellow leaves and the 2 centers, stamped in green and blue, out.  Then just recreated the stamped image.  Pretty cool, pretty fun.....hope it's just pretty!  :)

Spellbinders die, Lacy Squares, Sizzix embossing folder, a little stitching, ribbon and adhesive pearls.

Thanks for stopping by.......lots of post to go before I sleep........ala Robert Frost.....not to be confused with Jack Frost.......he's been visiting for far too long here!

Enjoy~

With A Grateful Heart

I am having a lot of fun playing with my brand new stamps from Papertrey Ink.  This card uses the stamp set Lovely Layers, I also bought the matching dies, makes life so much easier!

Another card for their Challenge #146, Angled Backgrounds.  Kind of hooked on this little technique.  Decided on a black and white theme with just a hint of pale pink.  The papers are from Echo Park, Be Mine.  It is hard to see but I did stamp the large black leaves with a smaller vine leaf with white ink.  Black ink on the grey petals, and a grey and white polka dot center, topped with a black/grey/pink designer brad.  I LOVE that sentiment and hope to wake up each morn with that thought in my head and heart!  I love the layered flower, really could be used for so many styles, Spring Flowers, Poinsettias, etc.  I am sure I will be playing a lot with this stamp and die set.

That's it for today.  Guess I better dig out my shorts, just in case the weathermen are right!  lol

An Itty Bitty Thank You Note

Another day, another snowstorm.  Luckily for me Hubby did all the shoveling yesterday!  I'll go out in a bit and shovel down to the deck and gravel.....I like it nice and clean.  Plus it's supposed to be in the high 40's on Sunday and close to 50 on Monday.....yay winter!

Just a small thank you note today for the PTI Challenge #146, Angled Backgrounds.

This card only measures 3 x 4.25"  Just large enough to write a few words of thanks.  Again, happy to be using some bright sunny colors again, it feels like Spring on the Blog.  :)

The stamp set is the Tag-Its #2 Mini set from PTI.  Nothing very fancy just a handy dandy little thank you note!

Short and sweet!

Angled Backgrounds

I have made my very first purchase from Papertrey Ink and I am soooo happy I did.  Today's card is for their #146 Challenge, Angled Backgrounds

The super cute bunny image is from their Polka Dot Parade #1 Mini Stamp set, and the sentiment is from Ruby Reprise, both can be found here; Papertrey Ink.  I believe the Ruby Reprise is a December Incentive stamp, I need to learn more about this program.   3 different designer papers make up this angled background.  The image and sentiment is stamped in Stazon Teal Blue Ink.  A brad bunny tail and a couple of eyelets complete this design.  One of my gal pals has a couple of bunnies so this will be a perfect thank you card for her.

Have a wonderful day.....it's all snow here.

Enjoy~~

Shake It Up!

Happy New Year!

Here's my first Challenge card of this wintery new year.  We have had snow over the past 2 days, and it's still coming down.  Thankfully it is light and fluffy, although there is a ton of it.  I am letting the man of the house tackle it, I don't mind shoveling, but it's much easier if you can get your door open.

Flourishes #252, Shake It Up, is to create a shaker card.  Using their sentiment stamp from, Holiday Topiaries, I created this Valentine Shaker Card.  Paper is from K & Company.   I found this easy way to make shaker cards by cutting out a shape from fun foam, using dies.  Using 2 circle dies I created a foam O.  The inside of that shape becomes the 'well' for the glitter and beads.  Makes it super easy.  You can also make other shapes depending on your die sets.  I then use Scor Tape to adhere that down to card stock, making sure I get as close as possible to the inside, making a good tight seal, so glitter and beads will not 'shake' out.  I then add my shaking materials, beads, glitter, etc and top with a piece of acetate also cut using the same size die.  On this card I used a doily to cover the edges up, cutting out the center portion so you could see the window.  It's really very easy to make, harder to explain.

***I have looked all over the web and haven't been able to find the video***

Ribbon, adhesive pearls, a designer heart brad, and a paper arrow complete the design.

Although there is a blizzard raging outdoors, I am soooooo happy to be making something other than a Christmas card.

Happy long weekend all, and if you are experiencing the weather I am, be safe!

Enjoy~~
