Challenge
This week's Challenge is,
Is That A Chip On Your Shoulder.....Or Card?

Incorporate chipboard into your project.  It could be a store bought chipboard accent or you could make your own by die or fussy cutting several layers of the same image and stacking them.  Your choice!

Remember if you do not follow the challenge, your entry will not qualify for the prize.

  2 Prizes
2 - $15 Gift Certificate each to the STORE

Here is my project:

I used the Happy Mail stamp set and matching Mailbox die from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps.  I also used the Casual Comfort stamp set to create my grassy lawn.  I die cut the mailbox out of Ivory card stock and then again in Brown, Silver and Red Glitter card stocks, layering them to create a nice sturdy chipboard element.  My envelopes were die cut 3 times, twice in Ivory and once in White card stocks.  I then layered them all together, colored the top ones with Copic Markers and then jazzed them all up with some Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  I think this creates the happiest of Happy Mail!

Sentiment and grass stamped in Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive inks.

There is quite a thickness to this card.

So put on your thinking caps, grab your most favorite dies or sharpest scissors and get a move on!

This is my last 'official' Challenge Post for The Mod Squad Challenge Blog.  I have loved the past year working along with this AMAZING Design Team and hosting these Challenges, but it's time to give someone else a chance and I really just want to play along!  Thanks for all of your kindness and support it is greatly appreciated!  Don't worry I'm really not going anywhere.  Thank so much!  xoxo

Here is my 1st card

I chose a very simple design.  I stamped my image from the Casual Comfort stamp set by CAS-ual Fridays Stamps.  I used ink in Pacific Point and stamped it 3 times without re-inking my stamp.  Using a Perfect Pearls Mist in Turquoise I spritzed it all over the card front.  I then cut the Casual Trees die in Deep Blue, Light Blue and Pale Blue card stocks.  I layered the cuts over my stamped images.

Stamping my sentiment from Wonderful Words in Black Licorice ink.

My 2nd card

I created this card in the exact same manner, only using shades of Pink.  I also used Glimmer Mist in Crimson (apparently I had a wee bit of a clog).

I may make a few more of these simple little cards and place them in a box for gift giving.

Thanks so much for popping in!

Enjoy~~

Here's my 1st card

I saw a beautiful card on Pinterest by Yoonsun Hur and wanted to try my hand at it I used the sentiment from Wonderful Words and the Lotus Flower image from Mon Ami with matching die Mon Ami Fleur.  To create my background I used a damp sponge paint brush and just painted on some Daffodil Delight ink, moving back and forth across my card stock.  Flower colored with Copic Markers, sentiment stamped in Black Licorice ink.  Crystal Drops in Dandelion Yellow and mini Adhesive Rhinestones for accents.

My 2nd card

This card uses the Casual Comfort image and sentiments from Mon Ami and the Love Ya die.  I stamped my images in Pink Pirouette ink and centered my smaller sentiment.  Then lining up my Love Ya die I cut that from my stamped background, making sure I kept every little bit of die cut, positive and negative.  Then I cut the Love Ya die 4 more times from pale pink card stock.

I adhered my background panel to a layer of pale pink card stock and then to my card stock base.  This makes it much easier to layer the die cut parts back into the negative space.  Make sure you layer the stamped cut last.

It adds a nice POP to the card.

A strip of Designer Paper and a few randomly (wink, wink) placed sequins for accents.

So let's see AND hear what your cards have to say!

Distress Ink Lifting

Happy Wednesday!

I'm hosting this week's Challenge at Mod Squad Blog.  Hope you'll find some time to join in.  Grab some coffee this may take a while to explain.  :)

Challenge

This week's Challenge is, Distress Ink Lifting!

Distress Ink + Water = Magic!

Here's the VIDEO from Jen McGuire.  This is where I fell in love with this technique.

My 1st Samples

I used the beautiful stamp set, Mon Ami and the matching die set, Mon Ami Fleur

I began swiping my Distress Inks in; Spiced Marmalade, Broken China and Peeled Paint over some textured water color paper.  Using a water brush I blended the colors together a bit.

Using these awesome dies I cut out the pretty flowers.

Using the co-ordinating stamps, Versa Mark ink and White Embossing Powder I heat set the images.  Then I began to "paint" them with water.  When you add water to Distress Inks it moves and lifts the color, creating a new look.

If you look closely, you will notice the lighter shades of colors on the tips of the petals.

How FUN is using these fancy sentiments as the stalks to my flowers?  I think they look fantastic!!!  My grass was created by using a small leaf stamp from this set.  Stamped in Black Licorice ink, off the edge of the paper, and colored with Copic Markers.

My 2nd Card

For this card I added several of the larger sentiments and one of my favorite little techniques for creating interest, paint splattering.

This card was created in the same manner, swiping Fired Brick Distress Ink all over my water color paper, and embossing in black.

No need to die cut this panel out as I decided to do the Peek A Boo technique we spotlighted in last month's Challenge.  The image is layered beneath the die cut.  I added depth and dimension using fun foam as a backing.

Here you can see the depth.

This flower I did not "paint"  I just added drops of water to the image with my brush.  It's a fun look!

These cards will also be entered into the Challenge at Simon Says Monday, Flora And Fauna.

Head on over to the Mod Squad Blog and join in all the FUN!!!

See you there!

Repeat After Me!

Happy Wednesday!

I'm hosting this week's Challenge over at the Mod Squad Blog!  Hope you're up for a new Challenge, this one will be easy AND fun!

Challenge

Repeat After Me!  You MUST use the same stamp at least 3 times on your creation.  Why 3 you ask.....because;
The 'rule of threes' says that things arranged in odd numbers are more appealing, memorable, and effective than even-numbered groupings.

My 1st Card

I used the pretty flowers from the Girlfriend stamp set as well as the Friendly Flowers die.  The wonderful sentiment, is just that Wonderful Words.  Inks in; Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Wild Wasabi.  Sentiment in Tuxedo Black and Melon Mambo inks.   Spellbinders Labels 4 dies.  Pink and white gingham ribbon and enamel dots for accents.  A bit of Wink Of Stella Clear Pen for shimmer.

My 2nd Card

More pretty little flowers from the Girlfriend stamp set.  I stamped lots of flowers, large and small in many inks; Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise and Wild Wasabi.  Once I was happy with my stamping I cut the panel in 3 equal parts.  Using pop dots I placed my panel on my card base.  BUT I first stamped my sentiments, front and inside, using Tuxedo Black ink.  Also one more little flower on the inside for accent.  Cutting out the Love Ya die in black card stock I adhered it to my center panel.

How's this for a FUN sentiment?  LOVE it!

I will also be entering these into the Challenge at Simon Says Monday, Summer Garden.

Here's what I used:

Girlfriend
Friendly Flowers

Wonderful Words
Love Ya

Happy Wishes

Good Morning!

If you happen to be out and about today and see my Mom, don't forget to wish her a Happy 86th Birthday!  Isn't that the best???

My card will be entered into the Challenges at CAS-ual Fridays, Birthday Girl and at Simon Says Wednesday, Flowers.

I used the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps set Wonderful Words to create my card.  I masked off the sentiment and chose to use just the words not the large ampersand that is also on the stamp.  One stamped flower colored with Copic Markers.  The other flower I made into a chipboard accent.  Stamped the image on to Designer Paper and die cut it out using a Spellbinders Standard Circle die.  I also die cut 3 more circles out of thick heavy duty card stock, it may be #140, then I glued them all together and topped it with the stamped flower.

Created a small tag using a Sizzix Tags And Labels die.  Added Jute Twine and my chipboard accent as well as 2 enamel dots for accents and a wee bit of the Designer Paper.  Black and White Gingham ribbon.  A thin black ribbon to the left, covering the different designs on the paper. This is a double sided piece of Designer Paper, that small polka dot print is on the other side.  This side shows you the 2 prints together, the polka dot is just a strip along the paper so you can see the 2 together, but I love how it looks against the flourish print so I used it.  Adhesive pearl flourish and several smaller ones and my card was complete.  If you look at the piece of Designer Paper I used as an inside accent, you will l see I did the same thing, using the side with both prints.  Cute!

Thanks for stopping by.....we have cake!!!

Enjoy~~
