Giraffe Family

Donna Phelan back again.

Today I am sharing a sweet little Baby Shower Card with you all.  They are so FUN to make and send to the new happy soon to be sleep deprived couple.  lol

This couple does not know what they are having so I used all neutral colors in creating it.
We have 'a thing' in my house about Giraffes so I started with this adorable Poppystamps Giraffe Trio, they make a perfect little family.  I distinguished each one by simply choosing the appropriate color, Blue for Dad, Pink for Mom and Yellow for the sweet little Baby.  I placed the happy family on a Tutti-Designs Nesting Stitched Banners die cut, which I layered. I also added a bit of texture to each Giraffe die cut using a Darice Embossing Folder.

*** Hey did you know the Dies R Us Store not only carries a wide variety of fantastic Dies, but it also carries Embossing Folders, Paper Pads, Inks, and Adhesives to name just a few of your paper crafting needs.  Click right HERE and you will see a whole list of amazing products that the Dies R Us Store carries at amazing prices! ***

Using the pretty Penny Black Heart String die, each cut out in card stock matching  the Giraffe Family.  My sentiment is stamped in Wild Wasabi ink, heart in Pink Pirouette.  Which I then cut out using the Tutti Designs Nesting Stitched Tags.  I added a few little accents; Gingham Ribbon, Flower Button and Twine and some tiny yellow star confetti to my background paper.

This card will also be entered into the Poppy Stamps Challenge, Framed.

Here's What I Used:

Double D, Twine

Good Morning!

A brand new Challenge is up and running over at the Double D Challenge Blog.

Here is your Inspiration Tile for this Challenge:

Twine!

Here's what I decided to create:

First I die cut the center out using a Spellbinders Standard Circle die.  Then I created my wood grain background by scoring every 1/4".  Then I just swiped inks in Dove Grey and Teal Blue over the card stock until I got the look I liked....and I loooooove these colors.  If you have never made one I suggest you try, it's quite a lot of FUN!

Taking the Circle cut I sponged Oxide Distress inks in Iced Spruce, Faded Jeans, Peeled Paint and Wilted Violet.  Then I dropped water all over and spritzed it with Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Sweet Mint, for that fun Oxide look.  Heat Embossed the coral/seaweed image from Stampin' Up! By The Tide stamp set in a pretty Seafoam Green.  Sentiment Heat Embossed in White from the Simon Says Sail Away -- Starfish, Sand Dollar and Anchor from that same set.  Anchor die cut also Heat Embossed in Silver.

Images colored with Copic Markers.

Added some pretty Teal Baker's Twine and tied a few UN-Nautical like Knots in it for a bit of interest.  Also added that perfect Charm, a glittery Pink Heart and my embossed Anchor.
Heart is from the PTI Dress Up Dolls--Puppy Love set.

I backed my wood grain panel with Fun Foam so the circle die cut would set right inside, then I was able to add my Starfish and Sand Dollar dies cuts.
Sequins.
WOS.

This card wil also be entered into the Scrapy Land Challenge, Anything Goes.

Please come on over to the Double D Blog and join in all of the FUN!
You'll be glad you did as there is always a pretty prize up for grabs!

Vitamin Sea

Donna Phelan back again.

Today is actually my Hubby's birthday, but I am not sharing a birthday card with you lol  Go figure!
I do however have a Nautical Beach type Masculine card to share.

I Need Vitamin Sea

How to create a wood grained background.

Inks in; Teal Blue, Dove Grey and Timber Brown.

For my Nautical Wood Grained Backgrounds I always use a Blue hue.  I love the weathered look you can achieve with this color.  My background paper measures 4 x 5 1/4 inches and I score it every 1/2 inch.  Then I just swipe my ink pads directly to the scored paper several times in each color until I get the result I like.  My Tag is die cut using the Tutti Designs Nesting Stitched Tags.  This I scored every 1/4", and inked in the same manner as my background paper.  The Tag has been layered 3 times on White and Navy card stock.

Using the Cheery Lynn Lighthouses I die cut it 3 times and adhered all together, this creates a wonderful chipboard like piece. I then backed it with some Gold Glitter Paper to show each light.
This is a fabulous die set, it has TWO Lighthouses in different sizes,
a great buy for your money!
My Anchor is by Sizzix, it was an old one I had in my stash.  But the Dies R Us Store has so many of them to choose from, click HERE.  Adding a Ribbon Tab and an Eyelet to my Tag for accents, I also Heat Embossed my sentiment in White Powder.
Inside I stamped an anchor in Teal Blue.

This card will also be entered into the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge, Anything Goes!

Here's What I Used:

Tutti Designs - Dies - Nesting Stitched Tags

Cheery Lynn Designs - Lighthouses (Set of 2)
