Double D, Nautical

Happy 4th Of July....WOW!

A brand new Challenge is up and running over at the Double D Challenge Blog.
Here is your Inspiration Tile for this Challenge:

I adore this tile!

Here's what I came up with, drawing inspiration from that tile and from my surroundings.
Lucky enough to live at the beach!

I started by creating my wood grained background, only this time I scored it horizontally!  Backed it with Fun Foam, adding dimension and a nice sturdy place to add the rest of my Nautical card details. 4 metal corner brads.

Using Spellbinders Standard Circles, I layered 2 to create my porthole, I then added some Copper brads for accents, this also was backed with Fun Foam to add even more dimension!

I cut a white piece of card stock using the circle die and masked off sea and sky.  Sponged on Oxide inks and then flicked water all over it.  Gulls stamped in Raven Black ink, from Gina K Designs, By The Sea 2.  Sailboat and starfish stamped in Raven Black ink and colored with Copic Markers.  They are by Simon Says, Sail Away, stamp and die sets.
Sakura Glaze Pen on Starfish.

Inside, Copic Marker colored Sand Dollar die cut and sentiment stamped in Marina Mist ink.

Adhesive Dots
WOS
Stickles

Lots of dimension!

This card will also be entered into the following Challenges;

Crop Stop Party # 41, Bonus Entry: Wood Grained Background
Scrapy Land # 93, Anything Goes
Simon Says Work It Wednesday, The Great Outdoors

Please come on over to the Double D Blog and join in all of the FUN!
You'll be glad you did as there is always a pretty prize up for grabs!

  3. oooh! I love the use of those rich caramel colors in your nautical theme - like the polished wood of a boat interior, or the decking and planks all around the marina - or even, just the feel and warmth of sand at the end of the day - it's all so lovely. Donna, your imaginative use of color and shapes is outstanding, especially in this wonderful card! Happy 4th! xx

  9. We live near the beach, too, so you'd think I'd make more beachy cards... You had the perfect stamps for this challenge! Love the porthole on wood grain with the adhesive dots that look like brads. It sure makes a great guy card, but any outdoor-loving girl would love this too (like me). Happy 4th, Donna!
