Back again on the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog
I have a fun Birthday card for you today! Sit back and enjoy!
This was a lot of FUN to make....yes, I say that a lot! lol Part way through this card I decided to make it a Shaker. Should have thought of that first!!! Duh!
I created my background by using this Memory Box Distressed Windham Collage. This set has 4 different dies, yes you read that correctly, FOUR!!!
The Dies R Us Store also carries many varieties of these Memory Box Distressed Collage die sets that also offer 4 different dies in each set!
Such a great value for your money!
Once I decided on which design I would use, I cut it from White card stock and then created a hand cut frame from Green to top it with. I also added some texture to my frame with a Swiss Dots Embossing Folder.
Mine is so old that the other day I used it and it became unhinged, as did I. Apparently you can use masking tape to hold it all together! Phew!
The Dies R Us Store carries quite a variety of Embossing Folders for all of your texture needs.
Next came these pretty flowers using the Cheery Lynn Designs Cherry Blossom Branch. I cut it 4 times, twice in Green and once each in a Light and Dark Pink. Cutting so many let me layer the Pinks on to the Green foliage pieces. I sponged inks on to the flowers to add a bit more depth.
I added Fun Foam to the back of my White die cut focal panel....this is where the light bulb finally went on and I thought of making it into a Shaker card. Just in the nick of time! It's not pretty from here, but it ended up being exactly what I wanted. I just added Pink and Green Sequins and Glitter. Not an awful lot, but just enough to add some FUN!
After placing my Cherry Blossoms on either corner to frame in my panel I decided to add some pretty little butterflies, layered in solid card stock and Designer Papers, using the Dies R Us Butterfly #2 Set. This particular set is no longer available.....BUT there are sooooo many others that we do carry, you can check them all out HERE. Pages and pages of them!
Images stamped in Raven Black ink and colored with Copic Markers.
Inside completes my front greeting. Stamps by Gina K Designs, Happy Spring.
Quite a bit of dimension.
And this completes my fun Shaker Birthday card. Hope you like it!

Really beautiful card design! Love the lattice for the shaker section, the cherry blossoms are lovely and that sweet little bird....how perfect! Beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteI ABSOLUTELY LOVE this card, Donna! And I appreciate the details you provided for pulling it together!!
ReplyDeleteI do have one question regarding making this into a shaker card. It doesn't look like (and you didn't say) that you used acetate to cover your window. How do you keep the sequins from falling through the lattice design?
Thanks for the inspiration and your assistance!!
Oh yes, of course. Duh! Sorry about that! I placed a thin piece of acetate on the inside of the lattice, then added my shaker bits. You can actually see my not so pretty trimming of it in the photo with the fun foam border!
DeleteI love, love this shaker card, it is so 'tweet' and an adorable card...all the pretty elements you have added just make it the cutest shaker ever!!
ReplyDeleteOh Donna this is just way too cool, I love how you used the background die and framed it like that, your flowers and butterflies framing it is just gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteWow, Donna! What a beautiful card! Not only do I love the birds, flowers, and color combination...but I absolutely love the design! I'd say it's definitely one of my favorites that you've done! :o)
ReplyDeleteA beautiful, floral shaker card, love it! You definitely are the queen of shakers! he he xx
ReplyDeleteLove how you sued part of the die cut for sentiment and other part for a shaker, Beautiful, fun design.
ReplyDeleteI love this and was just thinking of doing another shaker card with a similar if not the same corner die like you used on your card. I am always amazed at how you can know exactly what perfect elements to add to your designs. They are always so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGasp! This is stunning Donna! I love that you turned it into a shaker card. I just got some of these collage dies and can't wait to try them out. Your card is beautiful inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL!!! It makes me feel like I'm sitting in a lovely, peaceful garden. You put everything together so perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for helping me out today.
Super pretty card, so springy and fun. Love that it's a shaker, and I especially love that lattice look. Beautiful colors too, this card just makes me smile.
