Double Z Card

Good evening!

I have been in my craft room all afternoon.....hiding I suppose.  But, now it's time to move forward. Let's hold hands, I know we can do this together!

Today's card will be entered into the Challenges at; Scor Pal, Family Means Everything, Simon Says Monday, Shine Bright Like A Diamond and Scrapy Land, Anything Goes.

I made this Double Z card for my daughter's birthday on the 13th....she'll be 33....how the heck did that happen?!?!  Oh and shhhhh it's a surprise!

The card base measures 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 inches.  Score at 4 1/4 inches, opposite direction at 2 1/8 inches.
The card strip measures 1 1/4 x 8 1/2 inches.  Score at 4 1/4 inches, opposite direction at 2 1/8 inches.

I keep playing with this beautiful Designer Paper by Craft Smith, Tea Party.  It was one of those ridiculously low priced super deals at Michael's 5 dollars, 48 sheets.....pretty pinks, greens, yellows, teals and gold.  It is gorgeous!  After assembling the card base and strip I just began decorating it.  A total Labor of Love!  Oh and I created a pretty matching envelope too using my Envelope Punch Board, which I don't use near enough.  The envelope is decorated with lace, pearls and a Memory Box die, Homespun Heart.  It was cut once form a very thick 'chip board' like card stock and then topped with a pretty pink.

MFT Fancy Flourish die cut from toner paper and then I ran it through my Mini Minc with Gold Foil.  I also did the mini heart on the sentiment with this too.

This is how it looks folded flat, makes a nice 4 1/4 inch squared card.  Flower from Altenew stamp and die sets; Wild Hibiscus.  Image colored with Copic Markers.  Black Seed Beads for the center.  Dies R Us Butterfly 2 set, I layered 3 different ones together, the top one is also Gold Foiled.

Partially expanded here.  Spellbinders Classic and Beaded Oval dies.  Sentiment from PTI, Happy Hexagons stamp set.  Mambo Melon ink.

And fully expanded here.  Adhesive Pearls and Rhinestones and  Ribbon for accents.  Don't you just love that Rhinestone Patterned Bling?

On the back I added a sheet of plain white card stock and then using Scor Tape (just at the top edge) I covered it with a deep Pink Designer Paper panel.  I was able to write my Happy Birthday wishes on the white card stock while keeping it out of sight.  I may also make a teeny tiny envelope to add to the back, perhaps sticking some cash inside.  :)

Thanks so much for coming by.....I needed the company!

Be well!

  4. Often we are told that less is more and it does work, but then, there is a card like this one. You can add all of the bling and lovely design paper and wonderful hearts and butterflies.... and it is a marvelous creation from love. This is a Wowzer card that Lori will cherish for ever. I am right about that. Because it is made with a Mother's artist love. Love the matching envelope. Will you be handing this to her with a birthday hug? Give her one for me too please.

  6. Hi, Donna! I have not made one of these YET, but I believe yours is the prettiest thus far. Lovely pearls - put in STRAIGHT ROWS - not sure how you managed that so pearl-fectly, but you always do everything so well, I should not gape, right? It's rude, right? Stop being jealous that she put those on straight, I am chanting. LOL

Thanks for explaining the dimensions. It's like each little section of your card has decided to grow it's own garden - and not there are a riot of petals and colors revealing themselves throughout your entire masterpiece!

It's a delightful, beautiful, colorful, FUN card, my sweet northern friend! Have a great ending to your week! xo

  7. Oh boy, you have really outdone yourself here. But why wouldn't you? It's for your daughter, and she will LOVE it. I can see that you spent extra time and thought, it totally shows. All that bling and beauty. Great use of the patterned papers, they so make this card. I can't believe Lori will be 33 either. She's so lucky to have you for a mom, and she knows it!!! Well done.....love the envelope too.
