I want to share another card with you, a simple, easy masculine birthday card. This will be entered into the Challenge at Simon Says Monday, N Is For......and in this case it would be Nautical.
I used the Stampin' Up set, By The Tide for the images and the sentiment is from Gina K Designs, Follow Your Dreams. I created a woodgrain background by scoring my card stock every 1/2", for nice wide planks. Then I swiped several different inks over the card stock til I was happy with the color. It reminds me of lightly 'pickled' wood.
Cut a window out using Spellbinders Classic Circle die and MFT Blueprints #12 die and then I added a layer of Vellum to mimic a porthole window. Also added some hardware from Tim Holtz, Sprocket Gears.
Another semi-flat card, no-extra postage needed.....I think.
Thanks so much for coming by, appreciate you doing so.
Enjoy~~
great idea to create faux wood! Beautiful nautical card, Thanks for sharing with us this week on Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog! Barbarayaya
ReplyDeleteIt is about time that you have made a nautical card. You are the expert in that category. You faux wood turned out amazingly beautiful and a very nice touch to add the vellum over the window. A great masculine birthday card.
ReplyDeleteThat wood grain background is awesome - great choice of colors. It looks so real. It's kinda like looking through a porthole isn't it. Great way to showcase the focal looking through vellum. I just love the whole effect!!! And the sprocket is the perfect final touch!! I love everything about this!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the wood grain, it looks so real and the colors are perfect. Nautical is always a winner for masculine cards. Your port hole is like a window to the fishy world......beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteWonderful masculine card with the port hole with the fish swimming by. I love the wood grain look too!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I will be posting a wood grained card today that is so similar in design except the vellum is behind my scene and my scene is in the woods. I was thinking as I was putting it together that it looked similar to the cards of the smart cookie that we were talking about the other day. I really like the porthole idea and will have to remember this scene, Love it.
ReplyDeleteLove the wood grain background you created. Great masculine card from the queen of nautical cards
ReplyDeleteI love this stamp set but never knew what to do with it. This is perfect! Love the wood grain.
