Good Morning!  Happy Saturday!

Back on the Dies R Us Inspirational Blog again to share a couple of Masculine cards with you.

I find these a bit difficult to make, BUT if you pick out a couple of awesome dies from the Dies R Us Store, they become much easier.  Let's take a look!

This CAS masculine card uses the fantastic dies, Birch Trio, by Memory Box and Snow Drifts by Die-Namics.  Cutting 2 rolling hills from the Snow Drift dies in Green card stock, I sponged the edges in Always Artichoke ink to add some depth.  Then I stamped my trees in Old Olive ink.  Cutting my Birch Trio several times I spritzed them with some Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Gold, this also adds a bit more depth to a very flat (and easily mailed) card. Stamps by Gina K Designs, Pleasant Plurals and Winter Wonderland

My sentiment was heat embossed in Green Embossing Powder on to a hand cut Vellum Strip.  A very simple Masculine card.

My second card is just as simple and manly.

I created my background by scoring every 1/2" on Ivory card stock.  Then I swiped ink pads in Bermuda Bay, Dove Gray and White inks.  This gives a nice aged look to the Wood Grain Technique.  Images stamped in Black Licorice ink on to a Spellbinders Perfectly Pierced Classic Frame.  I masked off my duck image to stamp the cat tail and reeds behind him.  Stamps by Gina K Designs, The Wetlands, colored with Copic Markers.

And what's a duck without feathers?  These are fun dies by Poppy Stamps, Drifting Feathers.  I first cut them in Tempting Turquoise card stock and again in Vellum.  Layering the two to give a different look.  Stickles in Waterfall and Yellow to add a bit of sparkle.

Other Hill and Feather dies that could be used:

Impression Obsession
Hill Landscape

Poppy Stamps
Stitched Hills

Impression Obsession
Feather Set

X Cut Dies
Filigree Feather

I used this Birch Tree Die:

Memory Box
Birch Trio

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Enjoy~~

  1. Two amazing masculine cards Donna! I love the pretty grove of trees in the first card and I especially love how you made the background on the second card look like barn boards. I'm gonna have to try that!! The coloring on the mallard is perfect and both cards are awesome!!

  4. Donna, these are beautiful! I especially like the way you have overlapped the birch trees (I just ordered a similar die so am grateful for the inspiration!). Love the way the snow banks have become lovely rolling hills lush with green grass! Your duck card is amazing! Deep rich colors - just so magnificent on their own, but beautifully combined on that pretty image! Great cards, my friend! Hoping a delightful week-end awaits you. hugs, de

  7. Oh my gosh, did you ever nail the masculine theme here. You are so clever to use the birch trees and the snowdrift dies to look like a woodsy scene. Genius!!! And it goes without saying that the mallard is colored perfectly. Love the tag you placed him on too, and the silhouette stamps go along with it perfectly. Oh, and I think I need those filigree feather dies. Well done, dear friend!!!
